Law for a Digital Republic

Adoption of the Law for a Digital Republic by the Senate

On 28 September, the Senate adopted the draft law for a digital Republic.

By adopting this law, the government wanted to achieve two major objectives:

  • "To give France a head start in the digital field, whether in infrastructure, in data, with the implementation of real data strategies by businesses and administrations, or in the digital transformation of the economy. "
  • "Adopt a modern approach to the digital age, based on people - users, entrepreneurs, public officials, consumers, "makers" - and on the multitude of these people to strengthen their power to act and their rights in the digital world".

To meet these objectives, the Act is divided into three areas:

  • promote the circulation of data and knowledge,
  • working to protect individuals in the digital society
  • guaranteeing digital access for all
